Kane marks Bundesliga debut with goal in Bayern thrashing

New signing Harry Kane scored on his Bundesliga debut as Bayern Munich started their season with a resounding 4-0 win over Werder Bremen on Friday night.

Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel handed new signing Harry Kane his first start as one of five changes from the DFL-Supercup defeat to RB Leipzig, with Leon Goretzka, Kingsley Coman, Noussair Mazraoui and new signing Kim Min-Jae all coming in.

The Bavarians had an ideal start after Leroy Sane gave them the lead within four minutes with a right-footed finish into the bottom corner after he was set free by a flick on from Kane.

Tuchel's men were relentless in attack as they created chance after chance were unlucky in front of goal.

Bayern remained in control ten minutes before the interval but Goretzka lost his patience as he came close to giving them a two-goal cushion with a strike from range that forced goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka into an uncomfortable save.

The home side had a rare chance towards the end of the first stanza as Niclas Fullkrug fired a half-volley that was parried away by shot-stopper Sven Ulreich.

Ole Werner's troops came out of their shell early in the second stanza and were asking questions of Bayern, who had to wait for their moments to attack.

The right moment for the Bavarians to pounce came around the hour-mark, as Coman came close to doubling their lead with a curling shot that rattled the post.

Werder continued to push Bayern further back looking for the equaliser but they were caught on a transition attack 15 minutes before time, as Kane eventually doubled the lead for the visitors with a composed finish after a through ball by Alphonso Davies.

The Bavarians were in cruising mode but five minutes later there was a concern as Kane went down with a cramp and was replaced by youngster Mathys Henri Tel.

Tuchel strengthened his attack in the dying minutes with the introduction of Thomas Muller and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Sane added a third goal for Bayern in stoppage time with a tap-in to complete his brace after a cut-back by Muller, who had exchanged passes with Choupo-Moting.

There was still time to run riot for the Bavarians, as Mathys Tel got the fourth goal deep in stoppage time with a thumping shot in the box after he was teed up by Davies.
