Bundesliga Wrap

Bayer Leverkusen thumped Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 on Saturday to secure their first win of the season in the Bundesliga.

An own-goal in the first three minutes by goalkeeper Yann Sommer gave Leverkusen a dream start before Patrik Schick made it two inside minutes.

Gladbach could've reduced the deficit from the penalty spot before the break, but Lars Stindl missed which saw Moussa Diaby and Nadiem Amiri made the points safe with two second half strikes.

Borussia Dortmund suffered their first loss of the season after going down 2-1 to SC Freiburg away from home.

Following last Saturday's stunning display against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Black and Yellow were behind on six minutes through Vincenzo Grifo.

The lead doubled in the opening periods of the second half courtesy of Roland Sallai before an own-goal from Yannik Keitel handed Dortmund a consolation and defeat in the process.

Hertha Berlin lost for the second time in as many matches following a 2-1 defeat against Vfl Wolfsburg to head to the foot of the standings.

The host lost their opening clash away to FC Koln last Sunday, and their fortunes seemed to turn following halftime through a penalty from Dodi Lukebakio.

Wolfsburg turned it around though through Ridle Baku and a finish two minutes from time by Lukas Nmecha, seeing the Wolves to successive league victories.

VfL Bochum denied FSV Mainz 05 two wins in a row to in-turn register their first win of the season thanks to a 2-0 victory.

Gerrit Holtmann provided the breakthrough late in the first half before Sebastian Polter made sure of the points in the closing stages.

Eintracht Frankfurt registered their first point of the season following a goalless draw at home to second-bottom side FC Augsburg.

Frankfurt started their campaign with a disappointing 5-2 loss at the hands of Borussia Dortmund, while Augsburg endured a 4-0 pasting against TSG Hoffenheim.

Newly-promoted Furth played to a 1-1 draw against Arminia Bielefeld in their first home clash of the campaign.

Furth needed a second half penalty from Branimir Hrgota to cancel Fabian Klos's earlier effort, whilst Alessandro Schopf was dismissed late on following a second bookable offence.
