A Robert Lewandowski brace got Bayern Munich back to winning ways with a 4-1 hammering of Greuter Furth.
Bayern had not won their previous two matches, suffering a shock 4-2 defeat to VfL Bochum and then they needed a stoppage-time Kingsley Coman strike to draw 1-1 with RB Salzburg in the Champions League in midweek.
However, that would not be the case this time around as they had far too much firepower for Furth who can be proud of their battling performance.
Indeed it was the bottom-placed club who took a shock lead through Branimir Hrgota in the 42nd minute. That was just the wake-up call the Bavarians needed as they roared back through Lewandowski's double in the 46th and 82nd minutes, an own goal from Sebastian Griesbeck and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in stoppage time.
Julian Nagelsmann's side made sure they did not drop any more points and hold a six-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund, who won later on in the day. Meanwhile, Furth are bottom with 13 points and look destined for relegation.
Bayern next face Eintracht Frankfurt, while Furth battle it out with Koln.
Borussia Dortmund were ruthless in the Borussen derby with a 5-0 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach to bounce back from their disappointing Europa League defeat to Rangers in midweek.
Marco Reus followed up his brace from last weekend's win against Union Berlin with another double this time around. Meanwhile, Donyell Malen, Marius Wolf, Youssoufa Moukoko and Emre Can also got on the scoresheet.
Having cut Bayern's lead to six points last week, they managed to keep up the pressure on leaders Bayern, who won in the earlier match.
Meanwhile, Die Fohlen were unable to replicate their 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in September and are in danger of slipping into the relegation battle as they are just four points clear of the drop zone.
Monchengladbach next face Wolsburg, while Dortmund will tackle Augsburg in their next league fixture after their continental obligations in midweek.
