Bayern Munich dropped points for only the second time after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Union Berlin at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.

Union had a dream start after Sheraldo Becker gave them an early lead but Joshua Kimmich quickly levelled matters for Bayern with 15 minutes on the clock.

Freiburg went up to the top of the table after edging Bayer Leverkusen in a five-goal thriller at BayArena.

Kerem Demirbay opened the scoring for Bayer on the first quarter of an hour and Matthias Ginter levelled matters for Freiburg early in the second stanza.

Michael Gregoritsch quickly gave the visitors the lead and Patrik Schick restored parity for Leverkusen 25 minutes before time.

Ritsu Doan snatched the winner for Freiburg with 18 minutes left.

FC Koln secured their second win of the season after thrashing Wolfsburg 4-2 at Volkswagen Arena.

Lukas Nmecha opened the scoring for the Wolves in just the second minute but Dejan Ljubicic found parity for Koln midway through the first stanza.

An own goal by Paulo Otavio around the half-hour mark gave the visitors the lead and Florian Kainz made it 3-1 for Koln on the stroke of half-time.

Nmecha pulled a goal back for Wolfsburg in the last 11 minutes and grabbed his brace but Sargis Adamyan restored a two-goal cushion and sealed the three points for Koln two minutes later.

Ten-man Stuttgart remained without a win after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Schalke at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Chris Fuhrich got the opener for Stuttgart with 18 minutes on the clock but Simon Terodde snatched the equaliser for Schalke three minutes later.

Stuttgart were reduced to ten men on 67 minutes after Joshua Vagnoman got a second yellow card and was sent off.

Werder Bremen clinched their second win of the season in a dramatic 2-0 victory over Bochum at Vonovia Ruhrstadion.

After a goalless first stanza, Kevin Stoger had a goal for Bochum disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for a foul in the build-up.

Niclas Fullkrug eventually broke the deadlock for Bremen four minutes before time.

There was further drama in stoppage time after Bremen were awarded a penalty that was slotted home by Fullkrug, who put the game to bed and completed his brace.
