Bayern cruise past Bochum to consolidate top spot

Bayern Munich 3-0 Bochum

Bayern Munich held on to top spot by a point after thrashing relegation-threatened Bochum 3-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Thomas Muller broke the deadlock for Bayern just before the break after beating the offside trap to go clear on goal and Kingsley Coman doubled the lead for the hosts just after the hour-mark after going through on goal.

Serge Gnabry sealed the deal for Julian Nagelsmann's charges with 16 minutes remaining from the penalty spot, as Bayern won back-to-back matches for the first time since November last year.

Werder Bremen 0-2 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund extended their perfect winning run in 2023 to five matches after beating Werder Bremen at Weserstadion.

The first stanza lacked quality in the last third but Dortmund came to life midway through the second stanza after Jamie Bynoe-Gittens broke the deadlock with a strike in the box.

In a laborious game, Julian Brandt eventually put the result beyond doubt for the visitors with five minutes remaining.

RB Leipzig 1-2 Union Berlin

Union Berlin went up to within one point of leaders Bayern Munich in second place on the log after edging RB Leipzig 2-1 at Red Bull Arena.

Benjamin Henrichs got the breakthrough for Leipzig on 24 minutes and it took up until the 62nd minute for Union to find the equaliser courtesy of Janik Haberer.

Robin Knoche gave Union the lead ten minutes later and Yussuf Poulsen had what he thought was the equaliser 11 minutes before time for the Red Bulls chalked off by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for a marginal offside.

Hoffenheim 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen ended their two-game losing run after drubbing Hoffenheim 3-1 at PreZero Arena.

Robert Andrich gave Leverkusen an early lead, Moussa Diaby gave the visitors a two-goal cushion just from the interval and Adam Hlozek put the game to bed just before the hour-mark.

Stanley Nsoki scored a consolation goal for Hoffenheim with 13 minutes left.

Mainz 3-1 Augsburg

Mainz bounced back to winning ways after thrashing Augsburg 3-1 courtesy of a brace by Jae-Sung Lee at Mewa Arena.

Lee broke the deadlock for Mainz on 21 minutes and Karim Onisiwo doubled their lead three minutes later.

Ermedin Demirovic pulled a goal back for Augsburg just before the half-hour mark but Lee restored a two-goal lead for Bayer early in the second stanza.

Fredrik Jansen had a goal for Augsburg disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside in the build-up with 16 minutes left.

Freiburg 2-1 Stuttgart

Freiburg climbed up to fourth on the table after edging Stuttgart 2-1 at Europa-Park Stadion.

Chris Fuhrich broke the deadlock for Stuttgart on the half-hour mark and Vincenzo Grifo levelled matters for Freiburg on the hour-mark.

Grifo eventually snatched the winner for Freiburg and completed his brace six minutes before time.
