Bayern's Bundesliga title push dented after thrilling loss

Borussia Monchengladbach 3-2 Bayern Munich

Ten-man Bayern Munich went down 3-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach and failed to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The champions were down to ten-men on eight minutes following the start after Dayot Upamecano was sent for an early shower after clattering into Alessandro Plea.

With the defensive structure reduced following Upamecano's dismissal, the Bavarians saw it fit to bring on Joao Cancelo ahead of Thomas Muller to balance out matters.

Gladbach made the opening earlier on after Lars Stindl attacked a cutback on the edge of the area by Jonas Hoffman and finished beyond goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Though, the host weren't able to carry their lead into the halftime interval and allowed Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to get on the end of Alphonso Davies' ball and tucked home.

Gladbach were back ahead a few minutes in the second half through a smart finish by Hoffman after the visitors went to the sleep at the back.

The Bavarians fell further behind late in the half courtesy of Marcus Thuram, but got a second through Mathys Tel though it was too little too late.

VfB Stuttgart 3-0 FC Koln

VfB Stuttgart thumped FC Koln 3-0 to continued pushing the league table and leave the host in the mid-table bracket.

A strike from Gil Dias in the opening minutes put the host on course for the win before Borna Sosa made it two after halftime with a fine finish.

The final nail in the coffin came off the boot of Tanguy Coulibaly and guided the host to a comprehensive victory.

Wolfsburg 0-3 RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig were back on the winning track in the league following last weekend's defeat and crushed Wolfsburg 3-0 at the Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg.

It was a solid start from the visiting team and their intentions were more apparent after veteran striker Emil Forsberg grabbed the opener to set them on their way to victory.

Leipzig increased their advantage before the end of the match and grabbed their second through Konrad Leimer before Dominik Szoboszlai made it three added time.

VfL Bochum 0-2 Freiburg

SC Freiburg made further in-roads towards cementing a top-four position on the table with a 2-0 win over a ten-men VfL Bochum.

Freiburg hit their noses in front late in the first half all through Michael Gregoritsch and maintained the cushion well into the halftime interval.

The visitors then quickly stamp authority shortly after the interval and extended their cushion courtesy of a finish by Lucas Holer as the struggling host went to sleep at the back.

Bochum were reduced to ten players in the 63rd minute with Anthony Losilla given his marching orders for a poor foul.
