Gnabry's hat-trick inspires Bayern rampant win

Bayern Munich 6-1 Werder Bremen

Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the table after trouncing Werder Bremen 6-1 courtesy of a hat-trick by Serge Gnabry at Allianz Arena.

Bayern made only change from the side that edged Hertha Berlin, as Lucas Hernandez replaced the injured Alphonso Davies.

Jamal Musiala fired the Bavarians ahead as early as the sixth minute with a low strike from a rebound after Sadio Mane's shot was blocked in the box.

Bremen had an almost immediate response, as Anthony Jung levelled matters four minutes later with a first-time strike on the far side of the box after he was picked out by Michell Weiser.

The hosts were awarded a penalty on 17 minutes from a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review after Gnabry went down under a challenge in the box, but  Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's spot-kick for Bayern was  saved by goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka.

The Bavarians suffered a blow after that as Mane walked down the tunnel with an injury and he was replaced by Sadio Mane.

Gnabry eventually restored the lead for Julian Nagelsmann's charges moments later with a clinical shot from another rebound in the box, before Leon Goretzka made it 3-1 with chip over the last defender after he rounded Pavlenka.

Bayern put the game out of sight two minutes later after Gnabry made it 4-1 and grabbed his brace with a tap-in from a square pass by Sane.

The Bavarians were comfortable in the second stanza and Gnabry eventually made it 5-1 and completed his hat-trick eight minutes before time from individual brilliance after he got past a couple of challenges in the box before poking a shot past Pavlenka.

Mathys Tel made it 6-1 for Bayern a couple of minutes later, as they were running riot, with a looping strike that was tipped in off the crossbar by Pavlenka.

Wolfsburg 2-0 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund missed the chance to move up to second on the table after a 2-0 defeat against Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena.

Micky van de Ven gave the home side a perfect start after guiding home a header on six minutes from a corner.

Dortmund found it hard to break down Wolfsburg who were a threat on counter-attacks and Lukas Nmecha eventually sealed the deal for the Wolves in stoppage with a first-time finish after he was teed up by Patrick Wimmer from a transition attack.

Dortmund remain in fourth place on the table, six points behind leaders Bayern Munich while Wolfsburg moved up to eighth.

Bochum 2-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Bochum revived their survival hopes after a narrow 2-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach at Vonovia Ruhrstadion.

Christopher Antwi-Adjei and Philipp Hofmann gave Bochum a two-goal cushion inside the first eleven minutes.

Alassane Plea pulled a goal back for Gladbach just after the hour-mark and Ramy Bensebaini thought he had levelled matters for the visitors in the last seven minutes but had a goal disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside.

Bochum remained second-from-bottom, three points from safety while Gladbach dropped down to ninth on the table.

Stuttgart 2-1 Hertha Berlin

Stuttgart moved out of the relegation zone after a last-gasp 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Serhou Guirassy opened the scoring for Stuttgart three minutes from the start and Dodi Lukebakio restored parity for Hertha on 19 minutes.

However, Kontantinos Mavropanos snatched the winner for Stuttgart in the dying seasons of a long stoppage time.

Stuttgart climbed up to 13th on the table, three points above the drop zone while Hertha dropped down to the relegation zone.
