A number of reports in Europe claim the Red Devils have agreed a deal with the Ajax Amsterdam coach to take over the reigns from next season.
Like any new manager, Ten Hag is expected to re-shuffle the squad with a number of players expected to leave in order to bring in new faces.
ESPN have reported that Ten Hag has identified AS Monaco star midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as his top transfer target when he takes over officially.
The Red Devils will not be the only team in for the 22-year-old, with the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea reportedly keen on the talented midfielder.
Tchouameni could be seen as a direct replacement for countryman Paul Pogba, whose contract with United expires at the end of the current season.
France coach Didier Deschamps claims that Tchouameni has more aggression that Pogba.
"Aurelien has this capacity in the aggression of his recoveries which is greater than that of Paul," Deschamps explained, according to TalkSPORT.
"It's good to have a balance. Paul is always inclined to go forward. In this system, their tandem worked."
