Nuri Sahin: Jurgen Klopp threw me out of training at Borussia Dortmund

Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin has revealed how Jurgen Klopp once threw him out of training after he had an argument with a teammate.

Sahin was one of Klopp's most relied upon players during their shared time at Signal Iduna Park, and made 178 appearances under the German tactician, winning the Bundesliga and German Super Cup titles along the way.

However, the Turkey international has revealed that his relationship with the current Liverpool boss got off to a rocky start after he was sent home from a training session for arguing with a teammate.

"I was young and I thought I knew everything. I was sure I was in the right, 100%, but he told me to go, so I went.

"So, the next day I came in and I thought 'OK, maybe it's the end for me here', you know? I thought he would put me out of the squad or whatever, but he came in and it was like nothing had happened.

"It was a moment for me to realise that I would have him on my side even when I was in the wrong. It's powerful when you realise that about your coach."

In between his two spells under Klopp at Dortmund, Sahin also played for Real Madrid and Liverpool, although his stint at Anfield did not coincide with his mentor's current role as manager at the Premier League club.

The German-born 32-year-old currently plies his trade in Turkey's Super Lig, where he turns out for Antalyaspor alongside the likes of Lukas Podolski and Sidney Sam.
