Lewandowski's future has been a topic of discussion for the Bundesliga champions in recent months, with the club eager to hold on to his services.
However, Sky Sports have reported that the Polish striker has informed the club about his decision not to extend his contract beyond the 2022/2023 season.
The report also added that Lewandowski would like to join Spanish giants FC Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window rather than next year when he is a free agent.
Bayern chief executive Oliver Khan recently stated that that Bundesliga club have no desire to sell the 33-year-old at the end of the season.
"We are and will be in talks about his future in the next weeks.
"He has a contract until June 2023 and we'll definitely have him with us for another season."
