Manchester United sealed their spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Burnley at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia were handed starts for the Red Devils despite recently returning from the Wolrd Cup in Qatar.
The home side should have opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute as Alejandro Garnacho was played in on goal by Fernandes but was unable to fire past Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
Erik ten Hag's side eventually got the breakthrough on 27 minutes courtesy of a first-time finish from Christian Eriksen after an impressive cut-back from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
After a not causing any trouble in the opening 30 minutes, the visitors managed to carve out a couple openings in quick succession as Manuel Benson tested goalkeeper Matt Dubravka with a stinging effort.
Peacock-Farrell came to the away side's rescue a few minutes before the break after showing good reflexes to keep out Anthony Martial's deflected strike in the box.
United did get their second goal juts before the hour mark through Rashford, who managed to shrug off a couple challenges before firing into the far corner with a lovely finish.
Vincent Kompany's charges had a couple big chances to get back into the game, with Darko Churlinov firing wide with only Dubravka to beat in the box before Ashley Barnes blazed one over the crossbar a few minutes later.
Barnes was presented with another opportunity in the final 10 minutes after being set up by Jóhann Guðmundsson, but the veteran forward failed to hit the target from six yards.
Nevertheless, Ten Hag's men were able to see out the closing stages to hold on for the clean sheet as they progress to the final eight.
