Manchester United secured a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace to seal their spot in the next round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Harry Maguire returned to partner Raphael Varane in defence, as United recalled Mason Mount and Anthony Martial too and dropped Marcus Rashford and captain Bruno Fernandes from the line-up.
The visitors were thrown into jeopardy minutes in after goalkeeper Dean Henderson picked up a knock following a coming-together and was replaced by Sam Johnstone.
After a tense opening, United were ahead as Diogo Dalot made a late run on the right of the offensive area and cutback for Alejandro Garnacho to tap in from point-blank range.
Palace failed to contain the Red Devils and were two goals down before the half-hour mark as an unmarked Carlos Casemiro connected with Mount's corner to head in the far post.
The ascendancy allowed the Red Devils to play with more authority in possession as well out of possession and left the Eagles totally disjointed.
Youngster Hannibal Mejbri, who made his first start of the season in the win over Burnley on Saturday, was heavily in thick of things and linked up very well in the forward area.
With the lead intact, United still decided to shore up the defence following the return from halftime and introduced Lindelof in favour of Mount.
That didn't hinder the Red Devils going three goals ahead ten minutes in at the break as Brazilian international Casemiro played a lofted ball for Martial to go in and profit.
Palace weren't able to come in their own and push the Red Devils around the midway spell of the second half, but constantly sat deep in their own half.
This sequence of play allowed Erik Ten Hag's men to manage the final minutes and registered a comfortably win to go into the next round of the cup tournament.
