Copa America quarter-final wrap

Argentina 3-0 Ecuador 

Argentina secured passage to the Copa America semi-finals with a 3-0 triumph over Ecuador.

After waves of domination, Argentina got their reward five minutes before the break as Lionel Messi turned provider to pick out Rodrigo de Paul, who fired home at the back post.

It took a while, but Lionel Scolani's men got their second goal in the 84th minute with Lautaro Martinez slotting home from close range after being set up by Messi.

Ecuador were then reduced to 10 men on when Piero Hincapié was shown a straight red card for denying Angel di Maria a clear scoring opportunity.

Messi then put the icing on the cake in second-half stoppage time with an impressive free-kick as Argentina advanced to the semi-finals.

Uruguay 0-0 Colombia (Colombia won on) penalties

Colombia sent Uruguay packing in the quarter-finals after claiming a 4-2 win on penalties.

Both nations had their full attacking talents on display but were unable to find a breakthrough during regulation time and extra-time.

Colombia went on to take the in the shoot-out to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
