Neymar blasts CONMEBOL again

Neymar was left unimpressed with CONMEBOL's decision to suspend Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus, who will miss Sunday's 2021 Copa America final against Argentina.

Manchester City forward Jesus received his marching orders after he recklessly fly-kicked Chile's Eugenio Mena in the face during Brazil's 1-0 win in the quarter-finals last week Saturday.

Jesus was shown a straight red card and later apologised to Mena, saying the kick was accidental. However, as a result of the challenge, he missed the semi-final against Peru due to suspension.

To Jesus and teammate Neymar's dismay, CONMEBOL handed the striker a further two-match ban without appeal on Tuesday, meaning he will play no part in Sunday's final against La Albiceleste.

Following the decision, Neymar took to his Instagram story to express his disappointment at the governing body's verdict.

"It is very sad to be in the hands of people who make these kinds of decisions," said the Paris Saint-Germain attacker.

"They made a beautiful analysis of the play. We must congratulate them," he added sarcastically.

The City striker followed suit with an Instagram story of his own and said: "Two-match ban and no appeal? Congratulations CONMEBOL. I think you didn't see what happened right."

According to Manchester Evening News, Jesus also received a $5000 (R71 700) fine for his indiscretions.
