However, the club is said to have agreed a deal to sign Brazilian star Savinho from its sister club Girona at the end of the current campaign.
A new name is now believed to have surfaced on their radar ahead of next season, though.
According to Sports Zone, Pep Guardiola's side is interested in signing Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain.
It is claimed that the Morocco international – who infamously missed a late penalty against Bafana Bafana as the Atlas Lions were dumped out of the AFCON at the round of 16 stage – is keen to leave the French giants, but PSG are looking to extend his contract beyond June 2026.
Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs on the situation, while City are understood to be eyeing a new right-back before 2025.
City's first-choice right-back Kyle Walker is set to be out of contract in June 2026, by which time he will be 35 years old.
Hakimi has made 105 appearances for PSG to date, registering 13 goals and 17 assists.
