CAF POTY nominee set for sensational EPL return?

A 2024 CAF Player of the Year nominee is reportedly attracting significant interest from several Premier League giants.

Ademola Lookman, who previously plied his trade in England with Charlton Athletic, Everton, and during loan spells at Fulham and Leicester City, has reinvented himself since his move to Atalanta BC from RB Leipzig in August 2022.

The Nigerian forward's resurgence has been impressive.

By the end of the 2023/24 campaign, he had racked up 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in Atalanta's historic UEFA Europa League triumph, capped off by a stunning hat-trick in the final.

This season, the 27-year-old has continued to impress, delivering 15 goal contributions in just 17 games. His latest highlight came with an 87th-minute winner that secured a 2-1 victory over AC Milan on Friday.

Lookman's exploits have reportedly caught the attention of Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, with GiveMeSport claiming the quartet have been monitoring him closely since last year.

Scouts from these clubs are said to have been in attendance to witness his scintillating form.

While there are believed to be concerns about whether Lookman could replicate his success in England, away from the unique tactical setup of Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta, the player is believed to be keen on a return to the Premier League.

Atalanta, however, are reportedly reluctant to part with their star attacker during the January transfer window.

Valued at approximately £25 million (around R569 million) and under contract until 2026, a move at the end of the campaign is said to be seen as a more realistic option for the former Everton winger.

Currently, Atalanta sit atop the Serie A table with 34 points, two points clear of Antonio Conte's Napoli after 15 matches. Lookman will be hoping to maintain his stellar form as his side push for a potential domestic title.
