FA make decision on Arteta after VAR comments

The Football Association has now made a decision on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta following the comments he made about Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The governing body of association football in England charged the Spanish tactician for the comments he made following his side's controversial 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United earlier this month, ending their unbeaten record in the league.

The manager expressed his anger at the referee's decision to award Anthony Gordon's second-half goal after VAR checked for a foul, offside and the ball going out of play during the build up.The Gunners' boss spoke after the game, labelling the decision as "a disgrace".

"It's embarrassing. That's how I feel and that's how everybody feels in that [dressing] room. You cannot imagine the amount of messages we've got saying this cannot continue. It's embarrassing. I'm sorry, embarrassing," he added.

"I feel sick. That's how I feel. I feel sick to be part of this."

The FA, meanwhile, saw the Spanish manager's comments as damaging to football.

"Mikel Arteta has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3.1 following comments that he made in media interviews after Arsenal's Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday 4 November," the organisation said in a statement.

"It's alleged that his comments constitute misconduct as they are insulting towards match officials and/or detrimental to the game and/or bring the game into disrepute. Mikel Arteta has until Tuesday 21 November to provide a response to this charge."
