EPL ref’s alleged video snorting ‘white powder’ makes rounds

England's top refereeing body has confirmed that they are now aware of a video circulating online of a suspended match official, David Coote, appearing to snort a white powder.

Coote has recently been embroiled in a major scandal after a video of him making derogatory remarks about Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp surfaced online, sparking widespread outrage.

Coote was suspended by the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL), and the English Football Association also confirmed that they have opened an investigation into the matter.

But with the dust yet to settle regarding that incident, another scandal has erupted, further entrenching Coote in controversy.

The PGMOL issued a formal statement on Wednesday confirming that they are aware of another video circulating online of Coote appearing to snort a white powder.

A PGMOL spokesperson told Sky Sports: "We are aware of the allegations and are taking them very seriously. David Coote remains suspended pending a full investigation.

"David's welfare continues to be of utmost importance to us, and we are committed to providing him with the ongoing necessary support he needs through this period. We are not in a position to comment further at this stage."

It is suggested that the video was reportedly taken while Coote was working at the 2024 UEFA European Championship between June and July.

On Wednesday, UEFA also revealed that they had suspended Coote earlier in the week in light of the allegations.

A spokesperson for UEFA told Sky Sports: "The UEFA Referees Committee immediately suspended David Coote until further notice on 11 November – in advance of the upcoming round of UEFA matches – when it became aware of his inappropriate behaviour."
