A Premier League star, formerly of Manchester United, has now bought a club in Africa.
Footballers buying clubs is not a new phenomenon by any stretch of the imagination.

Chelsea legend and two-time African Footballer of the Year Didier Drogba is among the famous cases of such a purchase, having bought United Soccer League side Phoenix Rising, a second-tier outfit in the United States, in 2017.
Drogba's countryman Wilfried Zaha has now become the latest African star to become a club owner with the recent purchase of Ivory Coast fourth-tier team Espoir Club D'Abengourou, according to The Sun.
It is reported the Crystal Palace star, who was on the Red Devils' books between 2013 and 2015, bought the club in a joint venture with his brother Carin, who oversees the running of the winger's charity foundation in Ivory Coast.
Zaha's sibling confirmed that they are aiming to take the side from the fourth tier to the country's top division.
"We have a U19 academy. We will play in the Division d'Honneur this season," Carin said, per The Sun.
"The objective is obviously to go up, but first we want our youngsters to be in good shape and gain experience."
Zaha, who was born in Abidjan but moved to England at the age of four with his family, switched his international allegiance to the Elephants in 2016 after he had represented the Three Lions in two international friendlies as well as at youth level.
