A former teammate of Mohamed Salah has come to his defence, criticising a former Liverpool star for comments he made about the Egyptian forward.
The 32-year-old Salah, who is in the final year of his contract at Anfield, recently addressed his situation after scoring twice to help the Reds secure a 3-2 win over Southampton in a Premier League clash on Sunday.

The former Chelsea star revealed that he had not been approached by Liverpool over a contract extension, expressing disappointment at the lack of renewal talks.
Taking to social media, ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher responded to Salah's remarks.
The Englishman wrote on X: "Mo Salah 'only answered a question' is the new nonsense all his fan boys are spouting! Wait until you see how many questions Arne Slot gets asked about Salah's comments. The talk should be about two of Europe's giants coming up against each other, not contracts!"
Liverpool are gearing up for a UEFA Champions League group-stage clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday night, which will be followed by a domestic showdown with Manchester City on Sunday.
Carragher's comments, however, did not sit well with former Aston Villa player Ahmed El Mohamady, who was also Salah's international teammate.
El Mohamady took to social media to deliver a sharp rebuttal.
"Jamie, leave Salah alone and get a grip. Jose Mourinho was right about what he said about you," he responded in a tweet.

The reference was to Mourinho's past criticism of Carragher, when the Portuguese manager remarked: "How can someone who never won the Premier League speak about what it takes to win the Premier League?"
Mourinho also added: "Jamie Carragher talks too much for someone who isn't even in the top 1000 defenders in football history."
