Kane 'gives' Bayern deadline to complete deal

With the Premier League season set to begin in less than two weeks, Harry Kane has reportedly given Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich a deadline to reach an agreement over a transfer.

According to the Evening Standard, the 29-year-old will not leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this off-season should he line up for the Lilywhites against Brentford in their opening league game of the season.

Spurs' all-time top goalscorer, who is now in the final year of his current contract, is said to believe it would be unfair to new head coach Ange Postecoglou and the London club if he were to leave once their campaign has officially got underway.

This puts pressure on both Spurs and Bayern to come to an agreement over a transfer fee for different reasons.

The Bundesliga champions will be eager to get the deal done as soon as possible to avoid having to deal with interest from other clubs in January 2024 as well as at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

The north Londoners, meanwhile, will be hoping the transfer can come to fruition soon so they do not run the risk of leaving millions of pounds on the table by letting their talisman leave as a free agent at the end of the next season.

While the Bavarians chiefs' have been in negotiations with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy over a transfer fee for a few weeks now, the English giants still feel the Germans are some way off their valuation of the England captain.

The same report claims that Levy is looking to get at least £100 million (R2.3 billion) for Kane, but is also actively trying to get the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner to sign a new deal with Spurs.

There is thus also the possibility that Kane could end up extending his stay with the eight-time FA Cup winners, especially if he sees significant progress from the team under new manager Postecoglou.
