Klopp set for shock job? Agent responds!

With Jurgen Klopp having reportedly emerged as a serious candidate for a shock new job, his agent has now broken his silence on the matter.

With the 2024 UEFA European Championship set to get underway in Germany in about a year's time, the Liverpool boss has now been linked with a national team job.

The Reds manager and his club side endured a largely underwhelming 2022/23 campaign, as the Merseysiders finished outside of the Premier League top four for the first time since he took charge of the team back in 2015.

This led to speculation over his future at Anfield over the course of the past season, with there being rumours that his time at the club could be brought to an abrupt end as a result of the team's failure to challenge for titles last term.

However, with a contract until June 2026 and the backing of those in charge of the club, the German tactician's job is seemingly under no immediate threat, and he is expected to continue at the helm for a ninth season, which will make him the longest-serving current head coach in the English top flight for one club.

That said, reports emerged earlier this week suggesting that he had been earmarked as Germany's next coach as the current man in charge of Die Mannschaft, Hansi Flick, could be dismissed ahead of next year's Euros after guiding the team to only four wins in their past 16 games.

It is thought that many in the country would welcome Klopp's appointment as national team boss, believing he could lead them to an elusive first European title since 1996.

His agent Mark Kosicke has now quickly shut down rumours that his client could be set for a new role, though.

"Jurgen has a long-term contract with the LFC and the DFB has a national coach, so it's not an issue for us," Kosicke told German media outlet BILD.
