Manchester City have now reportedly advanced their pursuit of a certain talented winger to be Riyadh Mahrez's replacement at the club.
The treble winners are said to have submitted a verbal bid in the range of £47 million (R1.2 billion) for highly-rated Stade Rennais and Belgium winger, Jeremy Doku.

City have already completed the signings of midfielder Mateo Kovacic and centre-back Josko Gvardiol in this window, but have not yet found a direct replacement for Riyadh Mahrez, who left the Citizens to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli last month.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Pep Guardiola's side is keen to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 side this week for Doku, with the 21-year-old having reportedly already agreed to join them at the beginning of this month.

Doku is considered an emerging talent, having made a name for himself after joining Rennes in October 2020, for whom he has since made 92 appearances, scoring 12 goals and bagging 10 assists in the process.
City, however, could have competition for his signature from West Ham United, who are also reported to have shown interest in the winger.
