OFFICIAL: Man City confirm first team departure

Premier League champions Manchester City have confirmed their first permanent departure ahead of the new season.

Full-back Sergio Gomez has completed a permanent transfer to LaLiga outfit Real Sociedad.

The Spaniard joined the Citizens two seasons ago, but was unable to cement a regular spot in Pep Guardiola's side.

"It's time to leave Manchester City but I'd like to thank everyone at the CFA for their support and guidance during my time at the Club," Gomez told the club's official website.

"Being part of such a talented, ambitious and successful squad was a true honour and winning a host of major trophies, including the Treble, is something I will never forget and will always look back fondly on.

"I am excited for this new adventure but I wish Pep Guardiola and the players every success in the future."
