Salah's Liverpool departure on the cards?

Mohamed Salah, who is currently in the final year of his Liverpool contract, could reportedly end up leaving the club amid strong interest from Saudi Arabia as well as Europe.

It has been claimed that Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal are circling for the player, with a specific transfer target date set for next year.

The Egyptian had previously been linked with Karim Benzema's Al Ittihad, with the side believed to have made a mouth-watering offer in an attempt to secure the attacker's services.

According to talkSPORT's Ben Jacobs, the 32-year-old could still get a move to Saudi as the Blue Waves are looking to pounce on the winger upon the expiration of his contract.

It has been suggested that if Salah were to be brought in as a free agent, he would get a larger signing-on fee.

It has further been claimed that, while the Reds want to renew the talisman's contract, the Gulf entity are pushing hard to secure the player with the league's sporting director Michael Emenalo – who is believed to have a good relationship with the player – leading the charge.

The club's desire to land the former AS Roma star is also believed to be driven by potential commercial benefits as the league look to gain TV Rights in Egypt.

It does, however, seem as though the forward will have a host of options should he decide against continuing at Anfield beyond this season, as he has also been linked with a move to Spanish giants FC Barcelona.

If the former Chelsea star ends up not signing a new deal before January next year, he will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs interested in his services.
