Premier League star 'open to' joining Man City

A Premier League star is reportedly open to joining Premier League champions Manchester City in the January transfer window.

The Cityzens are currently thin in the midfield department as Rodri will miss the rest of the season while Mateo Kovavic is not likely to return before Christmas.

In an attempt to rebuild the squad, the Premier League champions have reportedly identified Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as target.

The Times have reported that the Brazil international is now open to joining the English champions as early as the January transfer window.

Any deal for the Brazilian will not come cheap, especially after he committed to a long-term deal with the Magpies last year.

Guardiola was asked about potentially brining in new players in January on Friday.

"No. What I want is my players back - the players that we have," Guardiola said, per the Premier League website.

"I want the squad that we had at the beginning of the season that were desperately competing.

"This is the only regret I have, that I don't have these players - not new ones.

"In the right moment, we will see. The transfer market has shown how expensive players are in the past four or five years. I'm sorry, we're not the best in those terms."
