Nike confirm Greenwood decision

Nike has now officially confirmed a decision relating to Mason Greenwood following the recent dropping of his charges.

The criminal charges – for attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning bodily harm – brought against the English forward last year were dropped earlier in February.

Hours after that announcement, the Manchester-based club said in a statement that they would conduct their own internal investigation into the matter.

This sparked rumours that the striker could make a return to United's first team, with the footballer reportedly re-adding "Nike athlete" and "Manchester United" to his Instagram bio.

Nike, however, has now confirmed their stance on the 21-year-old after the case was dropped in the form of an official statement by the Greater Manchester Police.

"Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete," a spokesperson from the sportswear brand confirmed, per the Daily Mirror.

EA Sports has also confirmed that Greenwood will still be excluded from FIFA games.

After the case against him was dismissed, Greenwood made a number of changes to his Instagram account, including deleting certain pictures and unfollowing a number of accounts.
