Pep speaks out on wantaway star's future at City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken out amid reports that one of his most important stars is keen on a departure.

In terms of transfers, City have been relatively quiet compared to their rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, with the reigning Premier League champions having confirmed only one first-team arrival and one departure so far.

The club signed Brazilian winger Savinho on a five-year deal from sister club Troyes earlier this month, splashing €25 million (R496 million) on the player after an impressive loan spell at Girona last term.

City also sold Spanish star Sergio Gomez to Real Sociedad in a deal worth €9 million (R178 million).

Reports suggest that another exit is impending, with goalkeeper Ederson reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Al Ittihad after agreeing terms with the Saudi club.

With a fee yet to be agreed between City and the Saudi Pro League giants, Guardiola was asked about the shot-stopper's potential exit after their 4-3 defeat to Celtic in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

"I don't know he has to see maybe now other options," the Spanish tactician answered, according to Sky Sports.

"Of course, I'd like him to stay. Depends now the clubs. I don't know the situation, no contact in the last days.

"A question of training and being with us until the transfer window finishes, and we see what happens.

"He's been the keeper for the team that has incredible success the last seven or eight years.

"We have an incredible three keepers, especially the two who play regularly. A really important position in the team. Really good team [of keepers].

"We will see until the last day of the transfer window when anything can happen. Not just Ederson, but many players."
