Arsenal's title hopes dented as Liverpool drop points

Liverpool 2-2 Fulham

Liverpool dropped points for the second straight Premier League game after playing to a 2-2 draw with Fulham on Saturday.

Having their match with Everton called off last weekend, the Reds welcomed Alisson Becker back from a nine-week absence as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz started too.

Surprisingly, the table-toppers were stunned over ten minutes played when Andreas Pereira attacked a back-post delivery to beat Alisson with a stupendous volley.

Arne Slot's men were in further disarray just inside the 20th minute spell after Harry Wilson succumbed to a foul by Andrew Robertson and saw the fullback dismissed with the challenge deemed illegal.

With the visitors in the lead at the break, the Cottagers were pegged back when Coady Gakpo sneaked in the area and executed a diving header past Bernd Leno.

The drama wasn't over as the visiting outfit regained advantage when substitute Raul Muniz applied a cheeky back-heel finish beyond Alisson from an awkward angle.

Portuguese international Diogo Jota rescued a point for the host though after edging around the defence from close proximity and lashed in the top corner.

Arsenal 0-0 Everton

Arsenal were unable to keep pace with front-runners atop the standings following a disappointing goalless draw against Everton.

Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Magalhaes and Kai Havertz were called back in by the host who edged Monaco midweek in the UEFA Champions League, as the trio replaced Jakub Kiwior, Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus.

Both teams struggled to get going from the get-go despite having moments to unlock each other though lacked the efficacy in the final third.

This sequence of events didn't turn for the better of the second half commenced and inevitably headed proceedings to conclude score-less.

Newcastle United 4-0 Leicester City

Newcastle United hammered Leicester City 4-0 to give manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy his first defeat in the hot seat, with Jacob Murphy scoring twice.

The noticeable change for the host came in goal where Martin Dubravka replaced the injured Nick Pope, whilst on the other hand Stephy Mavididi, Oliver Skipp and Hamza Choudhury were brought in by Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Following a buoyant start, the Magpies were in the lead just past the opening-quarter when Jacob Murphy made a late run in the box and riffled a cutback into the bottom-corner.

Brazilian-born Bruno Guimaraes extended the lead right after the start with a cool header in the area following a layoff across the face of the box by Lewis Hall.

The Magpies bagged a third not long thereafter through another first-time header from point-blank range by this time by Alexander Isak.

Leicester were picked apart once more as the host helped themselves to a fourth towards the closing stages when Murphy raced into the box once to guide in Isak's layoff.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-2 Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town eased their relegation woes with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in a key bottom-three clash.

Fortune favoured the visitors in the 15th minute when a goal-mouth scramble coupled with loose clearances led Matt Doherty finding his own net.

Wolves hit back after a large spell on the back foot and saw Matheus Cunha make the most of a link-up with Goncalo Guedes to find the net.

However, the visitors grew strong on the brink of fulltime and snatched the points through a neatly executed header by Jack Taylor.
