Arsenal leapfrogged Chelsea into second spot on the Premier League table after defeating Ipswich Town 1-0 on Friday night.
Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard were recalled to the Gunners line-up, with Thomas Parety dropping to the bench while Bukayo Saka is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Mikel Arteta's charges dominated possession from the onset but were finding it tough to carve out chances against a Ipswich side, who defended deep in their own half.
Arsenal eventually got the breakthrough after 22 minutes when Trossard carved out some space before sending a low cross into the box, where Kai Havertz was on hand to slot home from point-blank range.
The Gunners continued to push for more goal as the first half continued, but clear-cut chances were hard to come by at both ends of the field.
While Ipswich struggled to offer anything in the attack, Arsenal should have had a second goal after 64 minutes when Rice's corner found Gabriel Magalhaes, who somehow steered his header wide of the target.
Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric was key to keeping his side in the contest as the first half went on, as he produced a fine save to keep Mikel Merino's curling effort from 12 yards out.
There would be no reward for the away side in the final stages of the second half, as the first-half strike from Havertz was enough to hand Arteta's men three points.
