Havertz & Mount fire Chelsea back to winning ways

Chelsea snapped a five-match winless run in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.

Denis Zakaria made his league debut for the Blues and there were welcome returns from injury in goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Reece James.

The Blues were ahead after a confident opening when Kai Havertz slid in at the far post of the six-yard area and tapped in Raheem Sterling's low rasping cross from the right-side.

It was two for the Blues in the matter of minutes after Mount found space on the edge of the box and curled a cutback from Havertz in the bottom-corner following a passing move.

Bournemouth did come to the fore a while later and started to probe the Blues from balls and runs around the area by Dominic Solanke and Jefferson Lerma.

Sterling very nearly gifted the host a third goal in added time with a thumping strike at the near post of the area, but it was repelled by Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers.

Chelsea's playing personnel had to be re-shuffled five minutes after the break as a knock forced James to leave the field and granted veteran Cesar Azpilicueta to take his spot.

Although, the forced removal didn't affect their momentum but brought more forward play to their stall which allowed Zakaria, Mount and Havertz to cut-in and worked some shots away.

The Blues looked for a third in the closing minutes with a pin-point header by Koulibaly following Sterling's cross, but the Senegalese international nodded wide.

Bournemouth targeted a consolation in added time off a free-kick by substitute Ryan Christie and a diving header by Solanke, but neither capitalized and 2-0 it finished to the Blues.
