Rampant Arsenal put five past Palace

Arsenal got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 5-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

Hat-trick midweek against the self-same Palace in Carabao cup action were enough to grant Gabriel Jesus yet another start before seeing Kai Havertz slotted in the centre of midfield.

Jesus continued where he left off just six minutes from kick-off when he found the time and space well around the area to apply a composed finish.

Ismaila Sarr cancelled it out six minutes later through a stern finish from inside the danger area following a first-time entry to the box.

The scoring streak didn't stop this early in the contest with Jesus on hand to restore the tally when he lashed a cutback from Thomas Partey into the top corner.

Arsenal were called to turn to the substitutes bench a little later and saw Leandro Trossard removed due to injury and Bukayo Saka introduced.

The Gunners didn't look unstable given the shake-up this early but went close again as Jesus rattled the upright through a looping header from Odegaard's corner.

Havertz got in on the act too within the closing phases of the half after guiding home a knockdown by Jesus as the Eagles went to sleep at the back.

Palace seek a route back two minutes from the interval with efforts in the matter of moments by Jean-Philippe Mateta and Sarr, but David Raya was firmly on hand.

However, the sense of danger didn't unsettle the visitors who further extended the lead towards the midway quarter of the half as Gabriel Martinelli latched on a rebound to beat Dean Henderson.

Arsenal put daylights between them and the host as Rice drew a yard of space to curl in the bottom-corner amidst the best efforts of Henderson.

There were no further goals either side least by the Gunners who romped to a resounding victory to get back to winning ways in the league.
