Arsenal blow title chances at final Goodison Park clash

Arsenal failed to make up ground on Premier League leaders Liverpool following a 1-1 draw against Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Ben White, Jakub Kiwior, Jorginho, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling were recalled to the Gunners line-up, with Mikel Arteta resting some key players ahead of their UEFA Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Mikel Arteta's men enjoyed most of the ball in the early stages of the clash, with Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri causing a bit of problems in the final third.

The Gunners eventually took the lead with the game's first shot on target in the 33rd minute as Trossard sent a neat finish into the far corner after some good work by Sterling on the counter-attack.

Everton had to wait until five minutes after the second period for the equaliser after Senegal international Iliman Ndiaye converted a penalty after Jack Harrison was fouled by Myles Lewis-Skelley in the box.

The game become a lot more open after the equaliser as the Gunners went close to restoring their lead in the 64th minute after Declan Rice saw his powerful free-kick turned away by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Both sides pushed numbers forward in search of the winning goal but neither were able to carve out another big chance, as the encounter finished all square in the pair's final meeting at Goodison Park.

The Reds can move 14 points clear if they beat Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
