Chelsea boost title chances with thrilling comeback

Chelsea rallied back from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League action on Sunday evening.

Blues restored Robert Sanchez in goal as one of the key changes, while Heung Min-Son, Pedro Porro, Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero were back in for the host.

Dominik Solanke got the home team to the perfect start five minutes in when he finished off a low cross into the box by Brennan Johnson.

Dejan Kulusevski extended their lead six minutes later after cutting inside following a loose ball and slammed in the bottom-corner.

Romero, whose injury troubles looked to be behind him, came up short and couldn't carry on playing in the opening-quarter - thus replaced by Radu Dragusin.

Chelsea pulled one back a few minutes apart when Jadon Sancho combined with Marc Cucurella to go in-field from the byline, looked up and slammed in off the post.

Cole Palmer came extremely close to drawing them level just past the half-hour mark with a powerful effort outside the area, but Fraser Forster pulled left and repelled.

The opportunities continued coming both ends four minutes apart as Pape Sarr's thumping header from a corner-kick by Son clattered the top of the woodwork and out for a goal-kick.

Sancho could've evened up the encounter two minutes in the second half with a snap shot after meeting Cucurella's pass, but Forster came to the rescue of his charges.

Chelsea were given a route back when a lunging challenge by Yves Bissouma on Moses Caicedo resulted in a penalty, which allowed Palmer to step up and convert.

The comeback was completed towards the closing ten minutes as Enzo Fernandez pounced on a deflected effort from Palmer and volleyed home.

The visitors were not done, as Palmer won a penalty off Sarr in the area and he dispatched with a lovely Panenka to complete his brace.

Son produced a late fight back for the host in the dying minutes when he finished off a short-corner from close-range, but 4-3 it finished to the Blues who moved up to second spot, four points behind league leaders Liverpool who have a game in hand.
