Man Utd suffer second successive PL loss

Manchester United suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League after going 1-0 to West Ham United on Sunday evening.

Erik ten Hag made two changes from the loss to Brighton and Hove Albion, as Wout Weghorst and Christian Eriksen replaced Anthony Martial and Fred while Harry Maguire was back on the bench.

The Red Devils dominated early on and went close to breaking the deadlock on seven minutes Bruno Fernandes flashed a first-time strike inches wide of the upright.

Top scorer Marcus Rashford went even closer in the 17th minute, as he cut in from the left flank and unleashed a powerful strike that crashed against the upright.

The opening goal arrived in the 27th minute when David de Gea failed to keep out a tame strike from Saïd Benrahma that rolled into the bottom corner.

The Red Devils had been dominating up until the opening goal, but they weren't able to find a way back into the contest before the halftime break in the English capital.

However, West Ham came out with the same intent after the break and thought they had scored a second goal through Michail Antonio's volley, but the goal was ruled out for a foul on De Gea.

Even with Ten Hag withdrawing Weghorst for Martial, the Hammers continued to create openings as Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek squandered openings just after the hour mark.

The Red Devils finally carved out an opening in the 77th minute when Marcel Sabitzer slipped in Rashford, who forced Fabianski into a finger-tip save.

Fabianski came to West Ham's rescue in the closing stages as he produced another save deny Martial in the box, which ultimately led to the side securing the win and moving seven points clear of the relegation zone.
