Chelsea bounce back to hit six past Wolves

Chelsea thrashed Wolverhampton Wanderers 6-2 to get their first win in the Premier League at Molineux Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Two changes by the Blues saw Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk come in for Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia following tge defeat to Manchester City in the season-opener last weekend.

Forward Nicolas Jackson had the visitors off to the perfect start on two minutes when he nodded in the far post well beyond Jose Sa after a floated corner from Enzo Fernandez.

Wolves came inches to levelling eight minutes from the same routine where Yerson Mosquera rose high in the box for a headed effort, but he sadly clipped off the upright.

Portuguese international Matheus Cunha evened it up just before the half-hour mark after arriving unmarked in the area to slide in Rayan Ait-Nouri's layoff.

A crazy end to the first half led the Blues to go in front as a half-volley from Cole Palmer following a loose ball caught Sa in his wake.

However, the host replied in the lengthy added on time when Jorgen Strand Larsen's outstretched leg at the far post saw him take full advantage of a delivery across the face of the area.

Chelsea made a substitution ahead of the second period, with Pedro Neto coming on against his former club and filling in for Mudryk.

Madueke restored their advantage five minutes from the break when he stepped inside and fired in off Ait-Nouri with an assist from Palmer.

The latter caused more damage and released Madueke inside of the offensive third where the winger charged further forward to slam through a diving Sa to give the Blues a fourth a little later.

Madueke continued to stole the show just before the closing period and bagged a hat-trick after drifting in from the right to guide in another delivery from Palmer.

As the Blues enjoyed total control, recent addition Joao Felix came on around the last 20 minutes for his second debut at the club and replaced Jackson.

Felix's second-coming hit off on the right note eight minutes to the end with a well-taken finish in the area following a layoff by Neto.

There was no stopping the Blues who at the end went on to collect their first win of the season, with Wolves suffering successive defeats.
