Chelsea's struggles in the Premier League continued following a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
There were two changes from the Blues in the way of Marc Cucurella and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, whilst Joao Felix and Kai Havertz spear-headed their attack.
Chelsea provided the first scare in the opening five minutes with a rasping shot by Mykhailo Mudryk from close metres, but it was thwarted by Emiliano Martinez.
However, the Blues confident start were dented as the Clarets took the lead when Ollie Watkins latched onto a loose clearance and went on to turn past Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Blues looked to go level ahead of the break and came very close where a fierce shot from Mateo Kovacic came off the post following a reverse pass by Ben Chilwell.
Manager Unai Emery made a change at the start of the second period with Callum Chambers introduced and Boubacar Kamara withdrawn.
Chelsea struggled to cope and trailed again when John McGinn connected with an assist from Jacob Ramsey nine minutes from halftime and positioned firmly to pick out the back of the net.
Two changes from the Blues manager Graham Potter followed as N'Golo Kante and Nordi Madueke took to the field of play in an effort to change the course of proceedings.
Although, the Clarets stood their ground as the match began to flow by and went on to secure the win that plies more misery on the Blues who slipped into the bottom-half following this loss.
