Liverpool moved to within one point of fourth-placed Manchester United after securing a 1-0 win over Brentford at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Andrew Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota were recalled to the Liverpool side after the slender win over Fulham earlier this week.
Jurgen Klopp's charges needed 13 minutes to get the breakthrough when Mohamed Salah bundled the ball home from close range after good work from Virgil van Dijk.
The hosts should have been two goals to the good in the 28th minute when Darwin Nunez got on the end of Trent Alexander-Arnold's fine pass, but he fired over the crossbar with only goalkeeper David Raya to beat.
Brentford saw a bit more of the ball in the latter stages of the half and they had the ball in the back of the net five minutes before the break via Bryan Mbeumo's impressive strike, however celebrations were cut short due to an offside flag.
The Reds continued to dominate as the second half began, while Gakpo squandered a chance to double the lead when he failed to finish off Jota's cross in the six yard area.
Klopp decided to refresh the attack after the hour mark, as Nunez's evening came to an end as Colombia international Luis Diaz was introduced on the left side of the attack.
Raya kept Brentford in the game with 12 minutes to go, as the Spanish shot-stopper produced a superb save to keep out Alexander-Arnold's stinging effort from the edge of the area.
Liverpool were unable to find a second goal in the latter stages of the second half, as Salah's solitary strike was enough put the side a point behind the top four.
