Manchester United struck late in the second half to secure a 2-1 win over cross-town rivals Manchester City on Sunday evening.
Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were surprisingly left out the squad, as Rasmus Hojlund lead the attack while Mathues Nunes replaced the suspended Rico Lewis in the midfield for City.
The clash turned in the opening-quarter as Mason Mount dropped to the ground following an injury and saw Kobbie Mainoo come on for him.
City were eager to make use of the sense of discomfort in the travelling camp and flooded the area through relentless forays but lacked efficacy in the final third.
However, City took the lea ten minutes to halftime when Josko Gvardiol rose highest to meet a floated ball from a short-corner and nestled the back of the net.
The Red Devils looked unsettled moreover after going behind as the host threatened to double the lead with a penetrative shot from the edge of the box by Foden.
With the second half underway, no substitutions were made by either bench and preferred to keep faith with the initial eleven from the first spell.
Skipper Bruno Fernandes looked to inspire his charges shortly after the break through a telling cross to the box for Amad Diallo to take aim off the head, but Ederson pulled smart reflexes.
Fernandes then seeked to go on himself towards the final ten minutes where he beat the offside trap and picked out Hojlund's through pass, but dragged wide of the mark with only Ederson.
However, the Red Devils were level when Matheus Nunes brought down Diallo and conceded a penalty, leaving Fernandes to calmly slot home to level matters.
More drama came in added time as Diallo managed to meet Lisandro Martinez's lofted ball in-behind and nipped over the advancing Ederson to seal the comeback win
