Salah sends Liverpool top of the Premier League

Liverpool 2-1 Brighton Hove Albion

Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield.

Andrew Robertson were sacrificed for Konstantinos Tsimikas as Coady Gakpo remained following the cup encounter in midweek with the Seagulls.

The latter came out inspired and totally charged up thus were ahead in the opening stages courtesy of Ferdi Kadioglu who slammed a square ball across the area in off the far post.

Brighton enjoyed control for large spell, but the Reds hit back with under 20 minutes to play as Gakpo leaped onto the end of a cross-field delivery to head in the far corner.

Mohamed Salah completed the comeback moments later when he got on the end of a counter-attack and drifted inside to curl home.

Bournemouth 2-1 Manchester City

Manchester City surrendered top spot in the Premier League after a shock 2-1 loss at the hands of Bournemouth on Saturday.

With fellow title chasers Arsenal going down to Newcastle United earlier on, the Citizens looked to take advantage and open a wider gap at the top of the table.

However, the reigning champions were pegged back after just nine minutes through a probing effort from Antoine Semenyo with the Cityzens unable to clear their lines.

The Cherries stabilised matters for the majority of the clash and went two goals up in the middle of the second half through a first-time finish from Evanilson.

City pulled a fight back in the final minutes to fulltime with a towering header at the far post by Josko Gvardiol, but no comeback showed and victory went the way of the Cherries.

Nottingham Forest 3-0 West Ham United

Ten-men West Ham United were brought down to earth following last weekend's win over Manchester United and slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers who stunned Manchester United last weekend, trailed just ahead of the half-hour mark after Chris Wood finished off a teasing cross.

West Ham were pulled further to shreds just seconds to the break after Edson Alvarez saw red for a second bookable offence after lunging in on Anthony Elanga.

Loanee Callum Hudson-Odoi extended the home side's tally a little in the second half with a tremendous curling effort following a free-kick.

Nigerian international Ola Aina punched more holes in the Hammers resolve before the end through a sumptuous finish into the top corner.

Southampton 1-0 Everton

Southampton registered their first win of the season courtesy a 1-0 victory over Everton at St Mary's Stadium.

As the match wind down and no deadlock in sight, the Saints surged ahead five minutes from time when Adam Armstrong pounced onto a square pass and poked beyond Jordan Pickford.

Ipswich Town 1-1 Leicester City

Ipswich Town winless form continued after blowing yet another cushion and leave Leicester City claim a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

It took a while for matters to get going before the host seized control ten minutes after the break through a ferocious volley from Leif Davis.

More drama ensued in the latter exchanges which saw Kalvin Phillips get his marching orders for a second bookable offence and left the host a man down.

The Foxes reaped benefits thereof as Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew played a smart give-and-go with Jamie Vardy and fired in to share the spoils.
