Spurs 'decide' on R1.2bn Kane successor

Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly ready to make a big bid for the forward mooted to be Harry Kane's successor at the club.

New manager Ange Postecoglou has been burdened with the arduous task of ensuring Spurs are able to find the back of the net without talisman Harry Kane following his big-money move to Bayern Munich earlier in this window.

The Lilywhites have been able to find the goal without him so far this season, scoring twice against Brentford in their 2-2 draw on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign and putting another two past Andre Onana in their home victory over Manchester United on Saturday.

Despite the above, though, Spurs are now looking to boost their forward line with the potential addition of Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson, per the Evening Standard.

The Wales forward has caught the attention of a number of EPL clubs in recent months following an impressive 2022/23 campaign, but Forest have reportedly taken a firm stance on their £50 million (R1.2 million) asking price for the attacker, with the Daily Mail reporting that Brentford's £40 million (R944 million) bid for the forward was rejected.

Chelsea were also rumoured to be interested in the pacey forward, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the west London club is "looking at different options as things stand".

"Chelsea appreciate Brennan Johnson as talented player but didn't submit any bid – not negotiating to sign Brennan, as of today," Romano wrote on Twitter.

Other clubs have also expressed an interest in Johnson, but the Welshman reportedly favours a move to Spurs.
