'This is why Neymar should join Arsenal!'

With Neymar linked with shock moves to Newcastle United and Chelsea, a Brazil icon has now insisted that Arsenal would be a better choice for the Paris Saint-Germain superstar.

The Selecao attacker faces an uncertain future at PSG, despite having another four years on his huge contract.

He was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury back in March, but this has not absolved the player from controversy at the Parc des Princes since then.

Last week, a group of PSG supporters staged a protest outside of his home in Paris, demanding that he leave the club just six years after his world-record €222 million (R4.6 billion) transfer from FC Barcelona.

It seems the demonstration outside his home by PSG ultras left the player equally frustrated with the supporters and the club as he was reported to have liked several social media posts criticising the way the team is being run.

As such, this has increased speculation that his time in the French capital could soon be drawing to an acrimonious conclusion at the end of the season, with reports linking him with moves to both Newcastle and Chelsea.

However, former Gunners midfielder Gilberto Silva has now insisted his former side would be an ideal destination for his countryman.

"The last few weeks at PSG have been very strange for Neymar. Seeing people go to his house; I don't agree with this, fans are not allowed to go to a player's house to protest," the 2002 FIFA World Cup winner said, according to the Daily Mail.

"This can turn into a nightmare because it is dangerous and it is not nice. I hope it does not happen again with him or any other player.

"Everyone knows the quality of Neymar, I don't need to speak about his quality.

"I love the way he plays and I would love to see him at Arsenal instead of Newcastle because I love the boy as a player, but he also has a lot to contribute to football. He's suffered some injury problems which have made life hard for him.

"But he has so much more to offer any football club... How would he fit in? Well, this would be a great task for Mikel [Arteta! We have to wait and see, I don't want to talk about a player who is still contracted to PSG."
