What Foster's Burnley need to do to survive EPL drop

With the penultimate round of Premier League fixtures coming up, here's a look at what Bafana Bafana star Lyle Foster's Burnley need to do in order to survive relegation!

The Clarets have only two matches remaining this term, one being a tough away trip to Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday, and the other a home clash against Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season.

Mathematically, Vincent Kompany's side could still stay up, but their fate is not entirely in their hands as they require other results by Luton Town and Nottingham, especially, to go their way.

As things stand, Burnley are 19th on the Premier League table with 24 points, which places them five points adrift of safety with the two games remaining.

Foster's side now needs to win against Spurs and hope that Forest lose their clash against Chelsea in order survive this weekend.

Should Nuno Espirito Santo's side get a win or a draw against the Blues, Burnley's relegation will be confirmed on Saturday.

In the event Kompany's men win against Spurs and Forest lose to Chelsea, the Clarets would then need to win their final game against Nottingham on Sunday, 19 May, to remain in the Premier League for another season.

However, Luton, who are 18th on the table, could also further ensure Burnley are relegated if they win their remaining two matches against West Ham United and Fulham.

Although Foster went a few months without playing due a mental health break and injuries earlier in the campaign, the South African is his club's best performer in terms of goal involvements in the Premier League, with five goals and three assists.

Kompany, meanwhile, has admitted the fixture against Spurs will treated like their final match of the campaign.

"I was looking at the Championship, the last day of the season and it was all about that one game, if this team loses then this happens, if that team wins then they can get promoted or that team can stay up," the Belgian explained, according to Nottinghamshire Live.

"For us, we have to look at that Spurs game as the final game of the season.

"If the opposition teams lose and we win, what are you going to write then? That's all it is. If they lose and we win, all of a sudden we have a different discussion before the next game.

"If they win and we win or lose, then at that time it's over. But we have a final game of the season that is on Saturday.

"If we get a bonus with a game against Forest, then that's our final, that's how we have to look at it."
