What Salah said to Klopp in angry spat 'revealed'

What Mohamed Salah told Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp during the controversial spat between the pair on the weekend has now reportedly been revealed.

The incident took place during the Reds' 2-2 draw against West Ham United on Saturday, a result that dented their Premier League title aspirations and saw them drift five points behind leaders Arsenal and four behind second-placed Manchester City.

The Egyptian came on as a late substitute, but while preparing to do so, he appeared to be angered by something the German tactician had said, with teammate Darwin Nunez having to step in and hold the forward back at one point.

After the game, both parties addressed the media, with Klopp stating that the pair had sorted things out in the dressing room and that the matter was "done".

Salah, meanwhile, said that if he were to have spoken, there would have been "fire".

According to SportBible, after lip reader John Cassidy analysed footage of the incident, he came to the conclusion that the Merseyside club's boss said something that irritated the player.

"When Klopp tried to shake hands with Salah, Salah just feebly slapped Klopp's hand," he explained.

"Salah said, 'There's nothing I can do about that, nothing.'

"Klopp's reply was obscured, indicating Salah wasn't ready as quickly as Klopp liked it to be. Klopp walked over and irritated Salah by saying something to him.

"Salah then said, 'I will, I will get a red card, after seven years, after seven years' service, after seven years!'

"He then got ushered away by Nunez."

The war of words between the pair sparked confusion around the Egyptian star's future at Anfield next season. Reports, however, have since suggested that the club expects the 31-year-old to still be at Anfield for the 2024/25 campaign, if not longer, with a potential contract extension also being mooted.
