Zimbabwe star 'banished' by his angry EPL club

A Zimbabwe star has now reportedly been banished from the first team after angering his Premier League club.

AFC Bournemouth have banned fullback Jordan Zemura from the senior team, according to The Athletic, with the player believed to have signed a pre-contract agreement with Udinese to make the move to Italy next season.

The 23-year-old's current deal at the Vitality Stadium is set to expire in June, thus making him eligible to negotiate and sign a pre-contract with the club of his choice.

However, the way he and his agent have gone about it appears to have incensed his current employers, with the left-back and his representative said to have failed to inform the Cherries of their communication with other clubs.

This resulted in Zemura being dropped from the club's past five Premier League matchday squads despite being fit.

Per regional newspaper Bournemouth Echo, the Zimbabwe defender has refused to engage in talks over a contract renewal after receiving a final offer from the English outfit eight weeks ago.

The proposed deal is said to be worth in excess of £30 000 (R684 000) a week, plus additional bonuses and achievable salary rises.

Asked if Zemura had a future at the club last month, Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil said: "I think Jordan has had a good time here, of course.

"My job at the moment, I don't get involved at all in contract situations, just purely on team selection.

"As we saw, Lloyd Kelly is back fit now and can play left-back. We've got a Uruguay international back available, Matias Vina, who has trained well.

"So we have three very capable left-backs at the moment. So some tough decisions for me, but also positives that we have more options."

Zemura, who has been capped six times by the Warriors, was a regular feature for the Cherries before this latest development, having made 19 appearances in the Premier League before being frozen out of the team last month.

He has now been demoted to the reserve side for the remainder of the campaign.
