The Euro giants Mourinho would love to join next 'revealed'

The European giants Jose Mourinho would love the chance to manage next has now reportedly been revealed.

The Portuguese tactician has told those close to him he would love the opportunity to return to Manchester United, with the club assessing potential successors to current boss Erik ten Hag whose future is in doubt, according to Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday night  their 13th defeat of the season.

The is currently eighth on the Premier League table, and face the possibility of finishing outside the top seven for the first time since 1990.

As such, a list of potential managerial candidates is said to have been drawn up at Old Trafford, but despite Mourinho's reported eagerness to make a return, it is believed the Manchester-based outfit do not want to re-appoint him.

It is further claimed that while the former Chelsea manager is a friend of new Red Devils co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the "Special One" is not expecting a formal approach from the side he once managed.

The Portuguese was appointed as manager of the English giants in July 2016, and during his tenure at the club, he won the Carabao Cup and the UEFA Europa League trophy in his first season in charge.

In December 2018, however, he was relieved of his duties following a run of poor results.

Mourinho has been a free agent since parting ways with Serie A side AS Roma earlier this year.

After taking charge of the Italian club in 2021, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss led the side to a UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) triumph and to the final of last season's UEL, but was unable to finish higher than sixth place in Serie A in two attempts.
