'Why Zidane doesn't want Ten Hag's Man Utd job'

With uncertainty around Erik ten Hag's long-term future at Old Trafford ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend, it has seemingly been revealed why Zinedine Zidane would not want to replace the Manchester United head coach.

Manchester City and United are set to lock horns on Sunday, with the town rivals both aiming for a victory as the former are pushing for the Premier League title, while the latter are chasing a top-four finish.

The pressure is certainly on Ten Hag as his side has lost four of their past five EPL meetings with Pep Guardiola's men.

United are currently undergoing a transitional period following Sir. Jim Ratcliffe's acquisition of a 27.7% stake in the club, and the team is widely reported to be closely monitoring the work being done by Ten Hag.

As such, several managers have been linked with the Red Devils in recent weeks, with Spanish outlet Fichajes recently claiming that Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann has emerged as a candidate.

Another candidate who has been mooted several times in the press is Zidane, who has been without a job since leaving Real Madrid in 2021.

However, a former teammate of the Frenchman at Los Blancos, Thomas Gravesen, has since suggested that Zidane would not take the United job because of the work required and the personnel change needed at the club, while he also stated the three jobs the France legend would ideally like to assume in the future.

"I spoke to Zidane in Madrid two years ago and he told me that there are only three roles that he would like to accept," Gravesen told Discovery Plus.

"And they are Marseille, [Real] Madrid and the French national team.

"We were in Madrid two years ago and he told me exactly that.

"I also asked him if he was willing to manage again and there he told me that only if there were possibilities for those three."

When asked about Zidane potentially managing United, Gravesen replied: "I would say that the team he had in Madrid was fantastic, and he was prepared from the beginning.

"At United the situation is different, it is very difficult to do something with the team that Ten Hag has at the moment."
