Claasen is continuing to talk to the German club though and has not ruled out a stay in Munich if an improved offer is made.
But he has also courted interest from elswhere in Germany after a fine finish to the 2015/16 season during which he played a major role in helping the side avoid relegation.
Claasen’s career has been one of highs and lows. He made his debut for Ajax Cape Town just days past his 17th birthday in the 2006/07 PSL season, before joining Ajax Amsterdam in 2008.
After two seasons in the reserves in the Netherlands, he moved to Belgian side Lierse where he was one of the top midfielders in that league before a crippling knee injury scuppered a move to English side QPR.
He blew hot and cold during the 2013/14 season with Polish side Lech Poznán, before signing a three-year deal at 1860 ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
