FC Barcelona comment on Phillipe Coutinho future after Brazil star reduced to bench role at LaLiga leaders

Coutinho, 26, has not started a league match in over a month and only came on for the final seven minutes as Barca won 2-1 at Getafe on Sunday.

Ousmane Dembele has been the preferred attacker alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, while Arturo Vidal and Arthur Melo has emerged ahead of the pecking order for a place in midfield alongside Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic.

But as his €160m transfer anniversary from Liverpool approaches, the Blaugrana has dampened speculation that he will be allowed to leave.

"He's a player that thinks more about the team than himself and there are no doubts about him being one of the best players in the world. He's always played well for Barca, he could play [every game] from the off.

"Barça signed him because he's one of the best in the world and he's going to give us a lot. He's got many years left on his contract and a lot to give to Barcelona."

Coutinho has scored 15 goals and registered 10 assists in 45 games since joining the Spanish giants last year.
