James Rodriguez advised to leave Real Madrid

The 24-year-old was Madrid’s star signing two seasons ago, yet managed just 17 League starts this past season, and did not make it off the bench in the Galacticos’ Champions League Final win over Atletico Madrid.

Despite speculation linking Rodriguez away from the Santiago Bernabeu, the player has in recent times vowed to fight for his place in the Spanish capital, yet former national team coach Gomez, under whom the attacking midfielder worked between 2010 and 2011, feels his treatment under Zidane has been unfair, and that he should seek a move elsewhere.

"I'll give James some advice," Gomez told WIN Sports. "It's best for him to go to another team because it's been shown that the man doesn't want to play him.

"He's a world-class player and he would have to go to another team... it's a very personal concept, he's our idol and we want to see him play, but this 'boss' won't put him in. I don't like it."

Rodriguez is currently on international duty with Colombia, and scored from the spot in his side’s 2-0 win over the USA on Sunday.
